Meet Your Hosts

Landlords Rick and Jennie Powling offer a warm welcome to visitors old and new. Having taken over the White Horse in September 2006, Rick returns to this part of Suffolk.  Born on a farm just outside Yoxford, his parents Dick and Squibs Powling ran the White Hart in Saxmundham during his boyhood years. After moving to The Chequers at Sudbourne, Rick joined the Navy.

Jennie lived in the Bentwaters and Rendlesham area of Suffolk until she joined Rick in Portsmouth after they married. They have a son, Chris, daughter Carolyn and 4 lovely granddaughters.

Their ever growing team of loyal staff include Chef Jimmy, Assistant Chef Adrian and Naomi.
